Evaluating the Initial Idea

When we discussed the initial idea with Mrs McLuckie, she thought it was too linear with the everyday events because it made it straight forward. We realised that she was right, as we then thought that it would be difficult to make it appealing. All that we needed to do was to make it stranger in a different way. Mrs McLuckie said we already had the clown mask idea, which was great and all we needed to do was to just push it. So we decided to keep the ideas of the mask being involved as it created a supernatural sense to the story. The clown mask seemed best as many people have a fear of clowns which would help us to keep the story in a disturbing mood.

When we listened to the song again, it did not fit in with the storyline, now that we had a open mind about adding in more intimidating elements. So we have decided to look for a new song and this time, we will be looking at the lyrics first to figure out what they mean to us. After this, we shall be trying to add the idea we have to the song and seeing if it works in the way we would like to show.

At the moment, we have all agreed to including the masks in the story, adding more to the storyline, keeping it as story and finding a new song.

The Song

Although we had agreed with the idea that Georgina had pitched to us, we had to find a suitable song which we would be able to match with the story. At this point, Georgina revealed to us that she already had one in mind which might work with the story the way we wanted it to.

She had previously listened to Muse - Feeling Good, and thought that it fitted in well as as we could create a ironic video playing on the words "feeling good".

The video would be showing the life of a lonely girl, who is different to everyone else,an outsider and all that she is feeling is good. Our intentions are to allow the audience to become invloved in the video by showing it as a story. To a certain extent, the audience may be able to relate to the story as most people at some stage has felt like they are different and therefore do not belong. Eventually we would get to the point where the girl actually does feel good as she has met someone like her. This would make her realise that she is not really a outsider after all.

First Thoughts

After hearing the idea, Kelsey, Hennie and I really enjoyed the sound of it and thought that it would look good. We then started adding our own suggestions to the video to see what else we could add. This includes things like camera shots and angles as well as possible props which would be used to enhance the story. We also started to think about the locations that we would need to find like a good location for the party and a suitable bedroom to use.

Initial Idea

On our first meeting, we all sat together and Georgina told us that she had already thought of what we could do. Her idea was based on telling a story rather than having a performance of the song

The idea was about this girl who is normal and healthy but is feeling different. So she would do everyday things, and the difference would be is that she is always wearing a clown mask. In order for this to be clear, there would be shots of her during the day, when she is in a routine with the clown mask on. For example, when she is brushing her teeth and having breakfast, she would do so in a clown mask. The shots shown would be fast so that not too much time is taken, yet the viewer still understands that this is something which the girl does every day.

The video would also include shots of the girl being different from everybody else, in all aspects of her life. Weather she was at work, on the train, walking, at a party; she is always lonely and constantly picked on. The obvious reason for her being different is due to the clown mask which is something seen to be part of her life which she cannot get rid of, no matter how hard she tries.

The next day she wakes up to find a party invitation on her bed side table and she decides to attend the party. As usual, she is by herself and many people are laughing at her, in the clown mask. At the party there is a group of people who take the girl outside and start beating her up. During this, they attempt to take her mask off to see who she is and what she is trying to hide. They are able to rip it off and leave both her and the mask face down on the side of the road.

There is then another character which offers to help the girl, who looks shockingly up at the camera. It is then that we see that it is a person who is also wearing a clown mask, implying that they are in a similar if not the same situation as the girl. They both walk of down the street together, with their masks on.
